Nick Macris, MBA – Director of Business Development

Nick is an energetic General Manager with exceptional leadership skills and track record of innovation, new business development, integrity, interpersonal effectiveness, and resourcefulness. Key areas of expertise: Mergers & Acquisitions, Chemical Industry, Strategic Planning, Negotiation, New Business Development, Marketing. He formed his own business consulting group Definativ Group (www.definativ.com) in 2006, which is a mergers & acquisitions and corporate development advisory firm, serving small- and mid-sized clients. Before that he was with Purifics ES Inc. (London, ON, Canada) is a privately-owned engineering company that offers unique packaged water and air purification systems. He was responsible for business development activities, all marketing activities, forecasting, budget and business plan preparation, legal and commercial agreements, merger and acquisition activities, and intellectual property strategy. Before that, he was with FMC Corporation, where he had direct sales and supervisory responsibility for key accounts. He launched a new technology that enhanced the existing portfolio. He was also Project Manager, Corporate Business Development, where he provided consulting, coordination and management services in the initial assessment, evaluation, negotiation, due diligence and integration of acquisitions and divestitures of companies. Before FMC, he was Business Development Manager, Corporate Development Group and Agricultural Chemicals Group for Rohm and Haas. He developed financial/strategic criteria for new opportunities and managed all stages of a project. He developed analytical/financial models to determine attractiveness of opportunities and pursued approximately 50 bona fide licensing, partnership or acquisition opportunities in order to diversify the current portfolio and to contribute to long-term growth. For a short time before that he was a project engineer for 3M in Canada. Nick has a MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business (London, Ontario, Canada) a MS of Engineering Science and a BS with Honors from the University of Western Ontario.
